The aim of the project was to better understand how stakeholders relate to different land management scenarios. We assessed the perceived performance of alternative nature recovery options across Nature Future (NF) value perspectives and between contrasting stakeholder groups.
The scenarios were developed based on existing literature and expert assessment, and aimed to cover the range of NF perspectives.
The results of this study showed a diverse range of preferences for land use on the Downland Estate. Generally, participants seemed open to change and nature recovery. There was no clear best performing scenario across all NF perspectives.
At the time of the study a new management plan for the Downland Estate was under consideration by Brighton and Hove council.
