This study aims to translate previously created socioeconomic land use scenario narratives into spatially explicit LULC maps. The maps aim to help local stakeholders and decision makers with quantitative information for decision making. They can also be used as a baseline for further research to model the social and ecological outcomes of land use scenarios in spatially explicit ways.
The study represents a methodological development that can be used as a starting point or proof of concept to be replicated in different landscapes elsewhere. It also constitutes a useful practical contribution for stakeholders in management and policy. It can also be used for further research to model ecological and social outcomes in spatially explicit ways across the four scenarios.
