Future food systems develop from normative decisions taken at different levels by various stakeholders within the food system. In this scenario project five Nordic NGOs participated in designing a future food vision for the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The participating NGOs were Miljøbevægelsen NOAH (Denmark), Frie Bønder – Levende Land (Denmark), Uusimaa Region of Finnish Association for Nature Conservation (Finland), Norsk Bonde-og Småbrukarlag (Norway), and The Air Pollution and Climate Secretariat (Sweden).

The future food vision was iteratively designed together with researchers from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences who were responsible for implementing the scenario in a biophysical mass flow model of the food system and analyse impacts on food production, nutrition, nutrient flows and greenhouse gas emissions.

The dissemination of results aimed to make normative decisions taken in designing the future food vision explicit in order to facilitate an informed debate on the future of food and agriculture in the Nordic region.

The scenarios were made in: 2016

The scenarios look out to: 2030
