PLURALAKES Participatory scenarios for the English Lake District

The PLURALAKES project is an EU Water4All funded international consortia which aims to explore the possibilities for positive lake futures
through co-created visions and pathways in three lake catchment areas in Europe, using the Nature Futures Framework as a guiding principle. The English Lake District, UK is one of its case study areas.

The goals of this project are to co-develop visions and pathways for positive lake futures with local stakeholders. We will develop various numerical models to create scenarios based on these visions and pathways. This work will use the Nature Futures Framework to ensure visions are inclusive of plural values, and help us understand where synergies and tensions arise. This work will not only improve our socio-ecological systems knowledge but work towards transformative change. This approach is unique in lake ecosystems management and we hope to share lessons learnt along the way.

Project still ongoing.
